About you

We're seeking a talented Service Designer to help shape the experience of our federated data platform. You'll bridge the gap between technical capabilities and user needs, designing intuitive and effective services that enable stakeholders to discover, access, and utilize data across our federation. You'll combine strong design thinking with an understanding of data ecosystems and user-centered methodologies to create exceptional experiences.

What you bring to the table
  • 3+ years of experience in service design, preferably in data-intensive or enterprise environments

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, or related field

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating service design methodologies and outcomes

  • Experience with service design tools and methodologies (journey mapping, service blueprinting, stakeholder mapping)

  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Miro, Sketch)

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Experience conducting user research and synthesizing findings into actionable insights

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

Highly Desired Skills
  • Experience working with data platforms, data governance, or data management systems

  • Knowledge of data federation concepts and challenges

  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance requirements

  • Experience designing for complex B2B or enterprise products

  • Understanding of technical concepts related to APIs, data integration, and system architecture

  • Previous work in designing services for multiple user personas with diverse needs

  • Experience with agile or iterative design methodologies

You will be responsible for
  • Design comprehensive service experiences for our federated data platform users, from initial discovery to ongoing value realization

  • Plan and conduct research to understand the needs, goals, and pain points of various platform stakeholders

  • Create detailed service blueprints that map the entire user journey, including touchpoints, backstage processes, and support systems

  • Design efficient workflows that simplify complex data operations while adhering to governance requirements

  • Work closely with product managers, data engineers, UX designers, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment between service design and platform capabilities

  • Develop service prototypes and concepts to validate ideas before implementation

  • Ensure service designs align with our established design system and contribute to its evolution

  • Establish metrics and feedback mechanisms to evaluate service effectiveness and drive continuous improvement
